new camaro owner

Hey guys, just got my 97 black Z28 M6. I wanted to ask you experts, because the guy that sold me the car never changed the rear end fluid. What might i expect to be worn out and in need of replacement in a 119k mile car. The guy before me had owned the car since 30k miles.

Also the car is in need of new tires desperately, i was looking at the kumho 712s in 255/50/16, any other recomendations on tires? Im looking for a high performance tire with good/awesome road holding, ill get drag radials later for the track but now i want a tire thats fun to drive on the street.

thanks
Steve

Kumho ECSTA 712's are at the "bottom" of the performance tires, but at $83 a pop at tirerack.com you really can't go wrong for street tires...

I just saw you wanted the 255's, but I think tirerack.com only offers to 245...

tire rack has them in 255/50/16s, they are 87 bux a pop. What would be some other choices I should look into? I want to stay at 125 or less per tire.

Well continue to check out tirerack.com, that's your best bet! These same tires go for $125 at Discount Tire...I don't know if there are any that will be less...

You can always check out Pep Boy's Futura tires but they aren't performance...

The fluid is probably pretty beat. If it's really bad, it'll affect your posi. Get some fresh diff fluid and a tube of GM limited slip additive and get to it!

As for tires, I've used Yokohama AVS Intermediates before that were right around $125 each. Not a bad all around tire.
