New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

Does anybody know anything about these? Are they vaporware? With 40% more curtain flow area, could this possibly be the "missing link" to getting an LT1 back into LS1 territory?

I'm curious to see some flow #'s and if they use standard style rockers and springs...

Re: New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

There's a guy in advanced tech who's doing a 3v project. From what Ive read it's not as simple as buying the heads and slapping them on. I hope these show alot of promise.

Re: New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

It doesn't, but SBC heads can and have been converted to reverse flow cooling.

The guy in Advanced Tech, (Bobby Simpson), has a set of Arao Engineering heads which are 4-valve heads. And yes, there's alot more that has to be done to those heads to make them work correctly. That's why I'm asking about these heads, because if it turns out to be the same situation as the Arao heads then I'll just keep looking.

Re: New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

They were displayed at SEMA or some similar show about a year ago... at that time, they were still in the plastic mock-up stage. The 2006 Barry Grant online catalog lists them as "New"...... but who knows if they actually exist?

Re: New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

I just called Barry Grant's main office and spoke with a rep about these heads and he said that he's legally obliged to not divulge any details about them because the patents for them are still pending. He DID say that they are tooling up for them, and that they're scheduled to start production on them in July/August of this year. We'll see...

Re: New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

You would have to get a custom grind for these correct?

Re: New Barry Grant 3-Valve Heads

You would want a cam designed to take advantage of the 3 valve design's flow characteristics.
And you'd be needing pistons designed for that valve location too.
