Neep help with cam

Neep help with cam

Hey guys i got realy big qustion i need solving i have my lt1 stroked out to a 383 i have lt4 heads and intake, i have also 5.7 rods and am running like 10.5.1 compression. while my motor it out am also gunna run a bigger stall and am gunna get my pcm reprogamed for the new cam and wana run a bigger cam am looking at comp cam 503 or 305. But my biggest promblem tho is which one can i run with out have to do any grinding so i have no problem clearing it when i put it in or which cam do guys no that i can run bigger that will have no problem with clearnce pleaseeeeeee help!

It depends primarily on the rods, you really need to mock it up.

some require a small base circle depending on the rods/rod bolts likle Rich said.


If you are talking about piston to valve clearance, these is usually plenty on LT1's as long as the valve is lining up with the valve notch (bigger valves and cheaper "4 eye brow' pistons with small valve notches can be a problem).

Both are important an d need to be checked. I am sure the engine builder would know what would work for you.
