HI y'all,
I have a 95 Z28 convertible. Once in a while my back end bottoms out and it drives me nuts. What can I do to stop it. I do NOT want to lower the car. I just want to make the rear STIFF!! What types of shocks (stiffest possible) and springs (stiffest possible NO lowering) should I look for. What else can I do to improve the stiffness of the suspension? ALL input is greatly valued. Part numbers would help too! Thanks very much.

"Stiff" suspension as opposed to "well handling" suspension might be an interesting thing to look into, if you haven't already. But if you want the stiffest, with stock ride height, Ground Control might be able to make you a set with very hard rates and stock length. I'm pretty sure they can do custom setups, they're one of the largest dealers in Eibach. You can get some huge Suspension Techniques sway bars, and you can get adjustable Koni shocks and run them stiff. On the convertible, get some subframe connectors on the car before you do this.
Now that would be stiff. But take a read over in the Autox/RR forum and make sure that's what you're looking for, before you go that route...
If your car's bottoming out, and it's still using the stock springs, I'd say something's wrong with them. That's not normal assuming you're not overloading the weight in the car.

yeah unless you wiegh like 500lbs and running 4 12 inch subs back there you shouldnt be bottoming out, unless your off roading the thing. id say your suspension is just old and sagging. how bout polyurethane bushings back there and 1le springs all around. if you want shocks that are stiff and affordable, you may want to try KYB AGX or Tokicos. there adjustable so you can set them to how you like them. good luck

THANX!!
Thanx guys! I'll look into all of those options and figure out what will work best for me. I appreciate the replies. I want stiff and well handling. The main thing I want is a suspension that doesn't bounce when i go over a bump or a dip in the road. I HATE that!! Thanx again.

The 1LE rears are the best handling stock ride height spring option, IMHO. That's why I went with them when I decided to go back to stock height. I got Bilsteins to go with them. The thing is, suspension works as a unit. If you stiffen the rear and not the front you will upset the balance. I'd reccomend the 1LE srprings with appropriate shocks for both front and rear.
BTW: you must drive on some hella rough roads or with a big load if you have a major bottoming problem.

Thanks, y'all seem to think the 1LE springs are the best for stock ride height so that's what I'll go with. Does anyone know the part number off hand?? Now I want to find some nice shocks to go with the springs. Thanks for the help y'all!!

I think its just your shocks that are worn and you have been driving around for a long like that and the springs are now weak. You could go to SLP's site and get the take-off springs and shocks dirt cheap.

THANX!!
Thanks! I did a search and found allthe numbers you gave me (including the first set). The fron springs are listed but hte rear are not and they are the ones I want the most! I want some stiff rear springs. I don't know where else to look. I will NOT lower the car, but it looks like I'm pretty limited. I'm gonna start another thread and ask for options. Thanks again!!!!
P.S- I have decided to go with the KYB AGX adjustable gas shocks for the front and back.
