In need of suggestions

i have a 95 z28 that i recently had to change a blown head gasket......ended up changing a hell of a lot more .. rebuild went fine started up on first turn. Engine light came on so had it checked kept reading error whenever i scanned it. so had it scanned at autozone same thing then a mechanic still read error. it didnt interrupt the way the car ran so i kept driving it. After about 4 months of driving it it just shut down on the way to a buddys house, tried restarting it and wouldnt even turnover. voltage was reading 8v even with a jump on the car, so i figured i needed a alternator or battery. had them both tested they were fine but still wouldnt start "unless" alternator was out. weird....... so i let it sit for about 3 months not driving it put a new battery in it and it started right up. so i drove it up and down the block to see what it would do ran fine. As soon as i got on the main rd it shut down again and wouldnt start. gave it 15 mins and started up enough to get me back home. so it sits in my driveway starts up can drive around the block no prob. i dont know what else to do. i'm looking for any suggestions and if anyone in the Mass. area knows of any shops that specialize in the lt1 so i can get this beast back on the road. i mean i put over $2300 worth of new stuff and am willing to sink a good amount in a shop that can get this car to its potential.

Did the people trying to scan the PCM realize that the 95 has an OBD-I PCM, but a 16-pin OBD-II style ALDL connector?

Re: In need of suggestions

Had a similar issue on a older Camaro. It would run and do fine and one day started having problems. I had the battery connected, but not tight and it would cause problems. I would start checking all the connections for the positive and negative cables, since any loose ones can cause intermittent problems. Anything you removed or messed with when working on the car could be the problem. I even had a bad starter that caused the car to die after getting hot and would be fine after cooling off. I would get the cable ($50) to connect to your lap top and figure out the code. It is one of the top five things I recommend for an LT1 owner and I have used it numerous times. If you can't find someone that has the right scanner, it is the best way to go and worth getting anyways.

I'm going to purchase the adapter and run the laptop method i think that will be my best bet. Put to much time and money into the car to not be able to drive it. when it did run at about 50mph the car would almost shake and studder only at that mph. dont have a clue what would cause that. and i started getting a check engine light when the maf plug started to lose connection. so i bout a new plug rewird and light still comes on after 30 seconds of start.
