can i cut the hose after 13 on the diagram and attach it to the waterpump thereby eliminating the valve and those seals? what does the valve thing do?
I have read that some people have done that with no apparent negative results. It is a flow reducer, but I am not sure what effect there will be without it.

You can cut it [15]right near the 'restrictor' and then Dremel etc the swaged 'clamps' off on the bench, then use regular hose clamps to reassemble..
Also 3/4 heater hose will replace that little elbow[12]just as well..

Doubt anyone really knows but I suspect the restrictor is to make the heat work better[ slow the coolant flow some]

O great another thing I have to replace.
Mine broke when I had to replace the hose.
I just put a fitting in there.
Well now I know what that valve is for.
Thanks,

Chris G.
