Need a LT1 "alternator only" mounting system

Installing a 1995 Z28 LT1 engine/tranny into a 37 Chevy.

Only need the alternator (no AC or PB)..can anyone recommend a source for an "alternator only" mounting system?

Thanks

Madman, SJM

SJM Manufacturing, Inc. (724) 478-5580

At those prices, might want to fab your own.

A few bolts, a correct length spacer and a pair of heim joints are a cheap and effective way to mount an alternator.

You got me thinking...used one of these kits from Speedway Motors on a streetrod project...I'm sure it could be worked into the pass side.

I actually meant something more like this.

Mount one end of the alternator to the block with a spacer to get the pulley to line up with the crank damper then use a heim joint spacer to provide the belt tension.

Chris

Thanks for the info...I knew what you were describing - my buddy made a similiar set up for his BBC.

Just bought a setup on eBay for $12..here is the link:

I know they won't work on the non-LT1 block pass side because the fuel pump boss casting is in the way...but just noticed that our 95 LT1 block has no fuel pump boss casting on the passenger side...so it should work. If not can use it for another project.

Have any ideas where you might pick up a short grooved belt for it?

Ed

Any auto parts store should be able to order you a belt with the correct grooves and length you need. Best way to do it is to take an old belt and cut it down and use it as a measuring "stick". String can also work but it generally stretch and throw off your measurement.

Hi, sent you a PM too but posting here for posterity. Were you able to make this work? I want to do the same thing.

Yes sir it worked like a charm my son used it all last year and again this season so far. Physically checked it at a car cruise a couple weeks ago to be sure.

The first belt I used was a 6PK825 but needed a little more clearance for the 37 Chevy so we went down the next size belt. I'm sure the 6PK825 would work with 95% of the cars out there.

Had pics but can't locate them.

BTW: It worked so good I bought another one - just in case!
