need insight, intake manifold gasket

been having P0100 code for the MAF. but everytime i checked for voltage and other things with the MAF it always came back good. well i got the infamous passenger side manifold oil leak. fixed that, reset the computer, but the code still stayed for 2 more days. well i reset the comp after 2 days and now it has been over 2 weeks and the code has not came back!
any possible way that the intake manifold gasket was causing my P0100 code? my car does idle better now, and under WOT i havent notice it missing at all. it used to stumble over at idle and sound like it was about to die out.

any thoughts on this??
TIA

Well, you're OBD2 - your PCM knew air metering wasn't right because it was sucking in false air and suspected the MAF.

Re: need insight, intake manifold gasket

The diagnostic for P0100 is for the PCM to look at consecutive readings of the MAF sensor, and look for at least a small difference in readings. If it sees the same value for 4 reads in a row, it sets the code. Basically, P0100 indicates a static reading condition, not a "rationallity" check.

P0101 is the code for the rationality check, where the PCM compares the MAF AFG/S to a speed-density calculation, and sets the code if the S-D calculation is 25% (high flow conditons) to 40% (low flow conditons) different than the MAF reading.

Re: need insight, intake manifold gasket

that was too technical for me. but i think i get what you are saying injuneer. so it mostly likely was not the problem?
before i did the intake manifold gasket i would try different things to fis the MAF code and reset the code and it would always come back within 3 days or soemtimes within an hour or minutes of driving. but now it has been off for over 2 weeks. so it makes me think that something i did ( if it wasnt the gasket) fixed the problem?
thanks for the replies, i just hope that code dont come back
