Need injector size advice

I have been road racing my 97 camaro for 14 years and am now retiring it and putting it back to street duty. When racing it was a 355, stock heads, big cam, made 360RWHP on the stock injectors. I rebuilding it and needed a new crank so I decided to stroke it. It will be the exact same engine otherwise. Going to 383 usually adds about 40hp, so 400RWP accounting for 12% driveline loss (manual) comes out at about 450crank HP. I used 5 different online fuel injector calculators and they averaged out at 31 lbs/hr for my needs at 90% duty cycle. (35lb for 80%). Seeing that Im just going to bombing back roads once in a great while with this thing from now on is 30lb enough or do I need to go higher? Also Summit only lists Accel and Trick flow, I heard bad things about trick flow. Any suggestions on brand or where else to get injectors that will click into the stock rail retainers? Thanks!

Re: Need injector size advice

My rule of thumb is to multiply flywheel HP by 0.07 to get the absolute minimum size to consider. That results in a less conservative estimate the the online calculators that use a BSFC of 0.500 #/HR/HP, and 80% duty cycle. Modern engines, properly tuned, generally operate at lower BSFC, and modern injectors appear to be able to operate correctly at DC's higher than 80%.

That said, 450 HP x 0.07 = 31.5 #/HR. But why select the bare minimum? What happens if the engine makes more than your estimated HP? What happens on a really dry low humidity day, with ambient temperatures below 60°F, and the barometer above 30”Hg? At the higher air density you run the risk of running out of fuel.

There is absolutely no “downside” to running a 36 #/HR injector given your data.

I would avoid Accel. Don't know about TF. Consider purchasing from a high tech, reliable source like FIC:

https://fuelinjectorconnection.com/

He has some great injector test videos addressing LT1 injectors. I would lean toward the Bosch III's if they make a 36. “Remanufactured” can save some $$$ if they are rebuilt by a reliable source.

Re: Need injector size advice

Can anyone explain the difference between thesehttps://treperformance.com/i-2061359...jectors-8.html for $219 and these https://fuelinjectorconnection.com/c...cts/bosch-36lb for $520? Im an idiot, I guess FIC has a good rep, dont know anything about TRE, but I do know the difference between 220 and 520! Thanks-

Re: Need injector size advice

Is it possible the TRE's are “remanufactured”?

Neither of those is clearly identified as a Bosch Type III (or often shown - Type 3). I would clarify before buying either.

Did you look at any of the FIC videos?

Re: Need injector size advice

I got my 60# from TRE based on recommendation from Moe Bailey. I think they are remanufactured Bosch by TRE but I'm not sure. Either way, I have had no issue with them and I would feel confident in getting them if I were you.

I mis-spoke earlier - the 36# injectors i have are Bosch, not delphi.
