I had a similar problem with mine. My intakr elbow had a severe rip right where it slides on to the throttle body. The throttle body was black inside. I used some carb cleaner and sprayed it liberally. Then opened the throttle blades and sprayed again. Fix the bellow or this will just keep happening.

For injectors, get some of that injector cleaner to put into your gas tank.

A little carbon is normal and won't hurt a thing. Not a bad idea to clean it up if you've got it off though. Some carb cleaner will do wonders. What's more sensitive to carbon buildup is the IAC circuit. I would recommend removing the IAC pintle assembly and cleaning it seperately so you don't drown it in cleaner.

As for the injectors, if they are stock they are a "self cleaning" ball type if memory serves me correctly (Multec?). They aren't sensitive to buildup like the pintle style. I don't believe the cleaner in the gas tank is all that effective anyway. If you really want to clean your injectors you need to connect the high pressure stuff right to the fuel rail or even better yet remove them and have them sonically cleaned. Honestly though, as long as you run good quality gasoline there isn't likely to be any problems with "dirty" injectors.

Carb and Choke cleaner will strip that to the metal with a few sparys. Take it off the car first though or you'll blow smoke like a steam locomotive. I recommend B-12 chem tool spray.

Re: need help w/my throttle body.

Remove the TB and get a gasket kit for it. remove the IAS and the TPS. Removing the coolant/IAS housing from the bottom helps make it easier to clean too. Also, carefully clean the pintle on the IAS. Here are some pictures.

Re: need help w/my throttle body.

I'd say it is skill level 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Easier than a brake job.

Go get a gasket set first. There will be 3 gaskets. You can re-use the little orange gasket behind the TPS.

Also get a tooth brush, Simple Green and Gumout. Some rags, and you are ready to clean.

If cleaning the TB does not fix the problem, it could also be a bad IAS or a vacuum leak.

Now would be a good time to do a TB coolant bypass if you have not already done it.

A TB Bypass is when you take the two coolant lines that go to the TB and connect them directly to eachother, bypassing the TB. This helps keep the TB cooler, for better performance and it also makes it easier to work on in the future. It's worth about 7 horsepower. All you need to do it is a nylon hose connector and two hose clamps found at any auto parts store for under $5.

Yes, you can use gumout on the TB. Do not soak the 2 electronic sensors. Clean the pintle on the IAS carefully with a toothbrush and gumout, but do not soak the entire sensor.
