Need Help Removing Water Pump Drive From Block...

Hey,

I have my timing cover and intake manifold off, and have been trying to remove the water pump drive assembly from the block so I can run my double roller timing chain, and I havent had it budge yet. I hit it with a hammer, and a punch and hammer, and it doesnt seem to have moved, I have been hitting the back of the assembly from inside the intake, am I missing something , everyone seems to think it comes out pretty easy..
Thanks,
Brandon

I maybe totally out of line, but did you remove the two torq screws that is holding the retaining plate?

Thanks,

If you don't have a drop light, it's a valuable tool to have.

Remove the retaining plate first. Then take a socket about the size of the drive bearing and beat on it from behind with a mallet. It will eventually come off.

The retaining plate sits behind the water pump drive so the water pump drive and retaining plate will have to come out together.

So are you saying I dont have to remove any sort of retaining plate before whacking at the bearing through the intake??
Thanks,

Remove the 2 torq screw, then *hammer* it out from the lifter valley. The retaining plate and water pump drive will come out together. The retaining plate is *pressed fit* on the water pump drive assembly.

IAs said before , remove the two retainer torx screws and then get the appropriate sized socket and hammer it out, hammering on the socket on the lifter valley side.
