is it ok to run open headers with shorty's for about 3 to 4 days

Only problem with doing that is the slight ringing in your ears, but what's a little hearing loss? That and if local law enforcement in your area are strict on sound ordinances, I wouldn't do it.

You won't damage anything. However, depending on where your 02 sensors are located, outside air rushing into the headers may effect the readings of the 02 sensors.
