Bare block in the car...Will it very easily pull out?
Right now my bare block is sitting in the car awaiting heads and cam but I have some bad cam bearings. After dettaching the tranny will the block and bell very easily lift out from the top with a cherry picker?
It sure appears that it would, am I wrong?

But right now I am really trying to determine if the block with tranny attached will easily come out through the top. If that is going to be a headache I will unbolt the tranny.
Anyone want to chime in on this?
When I did my motor swap, I was able to pull it from the top and drop it back it through the top with no problems. And yes the tranny was attached, but the intake off.
All it took me was a good cherry picker and a leveler.

through the bottom and you dont have to do anything but plug things in. both methods work, but one is less work (if you have the tools). ive done many this way and i have lots of pictures if anyone would like to see.
This is exactly what I did when I did my heads and cam. I originally was going to put everything back on the 97k stock bottom end, but when I thought about it, they money was well invested in a rebuild. I had everything off the motor and decided to pull it. It was a bare block, and came out no problem. Have the motor assembled, and drop it back in through the top. When you do it, have lots of guys around to give you a hand, because it's tricky. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
