Need help installing dual cutouts
Need help installing dual cutouts
First off, I know the pro's and con's about dual cutouts and I have decided on dual cutouts. So please don't stray the topic with 1 cutout vs. 2 cutouts. That said...
I have Pacesetter LT's and a Pacesetter Y-pipe. Neither have been installed on the car yet. I also bought two 3" cutouts from Summit. I want to install them, but I'm not certain on the best way to install them. Should I chop up the y-pipe and weld the cutouts in, or should I put the cutouts on the headers and then the y-pipe after the cutouts?
I tried searching for this information, but I didn't find a lot on the subject. I also wanted to see pictures of other dual cutout LT1's. I have several friends with LS1's running dual cutouts, but I don't know how different they are from the LT1's. I would greatly appreciate any pictures and advice on this. Thanks.

Re: Need help installing dual cutouts
The cutout on the right won't be a problem at all. Stick it on the end of the header and cut off however much of the y-pipe you need to. The left one on the other hand could be interesting. The floor has a brace which will be in the way. The y-pipe has a flat spot for this. If you put the cutout after that point you'll likely run into the bend. You'll need someone to fab it up for you.
Re: Need help installing dual cutouts
I figured something along those lines, but can I still use the Pacesetter Y-pipe and have it modified, or should I just go with something completly custom. I don't have a lot of money, but I want something effective.
