rebuilding lt1 question about timing cover
rebuilding lt1 question about timing cover
hey guys
i'm rebuilding my lt1, and i pulled off the opti (with a shallow e4 off ebay amazingly)
on the crank, theres a flange that the balancer pulley bolts too, it doesnt look like it can seperate from the crank, but i definately have to get it off to take my timing cover off, can i just use a balancer puller to pull this flange off, and what size are the bolts
the other thing is i removed all the bolts for the timing cover, and just like everything else on the motor, its frozen on, any tips on removing it?

Re: rebuilding lt1 question about timing cover
The crank hub has a bolt and spacer down the center of the hub that needs to be removed. Once removed you can use the balancer pulley to remove the hub. Just make sure the center bolt of the puller isn't pushing against the center of the hub; you can use a threaded rod (threaded into the crank) to push against.

the center bolt is already out
could i thread the center bolt of the balancer in a few threds without the washer and use my puller against the head of the bolt? i pretty sure that the center bolt of the puller will push against the hub
also i tried prying the timing cover with a spinner handle, i'll try again once the hub is off
thanks for the quick responses
