Need help on Hurst line lock install...

Not installing it yet, but wanting to make sure I know how to install it. I bought it used awhile back ago and it didn't come with instructions, and one of the lines broke during shipping, so I'm going to have to bend another one.

I think I know where the brake lines go, but want make sure. Also, where did everyone hook the power/ground lines up to?

One brake line goes to the ABS block in the frontmost (towards front bumper), and the other goes to the rear master cylinder line?

I have mine grounded to a ground screw in my engine bay that I have all my aftermarket electrics on. ( Gauges,Linelock.....) You can also ground it to one of the screws you use for mounting the solinoid under the hood. As far as power I am going in the fuse panel on the side of the dash.

You are correct on the placement of the brake lines also. However I have to ask if you have the correct flare nuts to convert the lines. Our flare nuts are metric stock & cannot be reused. You will need the metric to standard fittings to use the standard nuts that come on new brake lines incase you didn't know this. I almost stripped my master cylinder threads & abs Threads. I think the fittings are (M11) Not sure though. I forgot. Good Luck.

The front brake line you want to cut into starts at the rear of the master cylinder, and runs to the front connection on the distribution block on the side of the ABS unit. The metric fittings are actually different sizes on each end of the line... I think Rob/Shobox has the correct sizes.

You can get pre-bent lines from Thunder Racing, or a complete install kit. You can't use the Hurst "universal install" kit, because of the metric fittings. You can make your own lines if you can find the fittings and make the "mushroom" style flare. My lines are home made, and I'm not really happy with the way they look. Work fine though.

I don't know what fittings they include in the Hurst kit. Check with Rob/Shoebox... he knows the correct GM fitting sizes for the master cylinder end, and the ABS end (for some reason, they are not the same size???).

The TR kit is also loaded with parts that some people don't want/need. It has the pre-bent lines, so that part is good. It includes a relay, which I think is good, because all my high current devices are wired through relays, but some people skip that step. The TR kit includes a wiring harness, but it assumes you want to have a "master" arm switch (doesn't turn the line lock on, just allows you to turn the power supply to the line lock button off, so you can't accidentally engage the line lock) and some other stuff. In my specific application, I had someone fab up the lines for me, and I wired the relay up the way I wanted it, with the kind of switch I found most useful for burnouts.... I actually didn't like the "trigger" switch that Hurst includes for the shift lever, because is tended to get jiggled when I banged the B&M ratchet shifter to get it into 2nd gear for the burnout. That's where you need to decide exactly how you plan to install it and wire it, before spending $100+ on the TR kit.

You'll have a lot better chance of getting a response from someone with an LS1 if you post on "LS1 Tech".... not here on "LT1 Tech".

There is a chart on the right hand side of this drawing that shows all the fitting sizes at what locations.
