Need Help on heads I am thinking about buying

Here is what is said about these heads.

"This set of LT1 heads are fully ported. They have 2.00 intake valves and 1.56 exhaust valves and Comp 987 springs with titanium retainers do have guide plates that I can throw in if wanted but they are not installed now. These heads have not been run since all work has been done. Flow #'s from the guy who did all the work are 282 intake and 206 exhaust, I had them flowed at a local shop and they flowed 274 and 195. All flow #'s are at .600 lift. I have decided to go a different direction with my motor and bought AFR heads so I need to sell these."

My main concern is I called comp cams and they told me that the cam they recommend needs heavier valve springs. I believe they were 986 springs. If these heads have the 987s will the 986 springs fit correctly? Secondly I am concerned about the velocity of the runners. I am not looking for a head that is only making good power at 7k. But I am getting these heads for around 1K

Any suggestions are appreciated,.

Since you had them flowed, if you post the flow #'s from .100-.600 lift it would give people a better idea of the head. I do not think that the LT1 head can get too big to hurt performance IF shaped correctly. If the shortside is ripped out and the low/mid lift flow #'s suck than that might make it "week" at low RPM and not run as well as it could at any RPM.

As long as the springs are the only thing needed that price is good for a set of heads that flow 270/190 with descent low/mid #'s.

If they need springs, surfacing, valve job, seals and the low/mid lift flow #'s are not that good it is still ALOT better than most of the stuff that is floating around.

Pretty much get a estimate on everything that it will take to get them "ready" and get the other flow #'s and see what the total is gonna be.

It is tough to find a set for that price that flow that good.
