Need Help Fast

My car is in the driveway on jackstands and I can't get the wheels off of the car. I have all of the lug bolts removed but the wheel will not come off of the car. Am I missing something? I feel very stupid but I can't see whats holding the wheel on the car.

You've taken off all of the lug NUTS and the wheels are not coming off?

Soak where the wheel connects to the hub with WD40 and just try pulling it off, it really shouldn't be that hard. If they havent been off in a long time then it could be hard to get them off. Try not to spray the disk brakes with any of the WD40 though. Might want to cover them with a garbage bag first.

spray some wd40 or something on it and take a rubber mallot and tap the inter part of the rim and it should come off.

Any progress? ( I bet you have them off by now, LOL!)

Where these non-stock wheels and were they front or back?

My guess it that you have late model wheels on the back and the inside of the wheel hubs were not relieved enough prior to putting them on and they are wedged on the axle hub.

Gotem Off

Rob - you are correct I finally got them off and got the shocks and springs on. Put them back on with plenty of anti-seize, hopefully that will help. Used your instructions BTW for the shocks and springs. Thanks

Rob, BTW what do me when you say that "the wheels aren't relieved enough". How would I do this?

If you have late model wheels on the back, they usuall interfere with the axle hubs. They made the later model hub protrusion smaller and consequently the hole in the wheel smaller. So the hole in the center of the wheel needs to be opened up just a little to clear you older, larger hub. If you look on the back of the wheel, you can probably see where it is interfering. Sandpaper, Dremel or I even used a large half round file to dress mine down a little so it would clear. You will end up doing all four wheels if you rotate your tires. The fronts have no interference problem. You may even find that one or two of the wheels fit ok without any modification, because of wide manufacturing tolerances. The wheels are not centered by the hub, but by the lugs, so there is not a problem if the hole is not perfectly round. It does not take much removal anyway. Take a little off and keep trial fitting it until it goes on easily.
