I have heard of this before with the jethots. I believe they are patterned very closely after the Hooker LTs which happen to have a slip fit 1st primary because the fit is so tight. My only suggestion is to jack the motor up even higher... that is really all you can do unless you drop the k-member some.

Have you removed the steering shaft?

Two bolts one at the rack and one up near the fire wall.

My suggestion is to drop the k-member a little, loosen all 3 of the big bolts, but leave a couple threads in. Get a big prybar and have someone pry it down while you slide the header in from underneath. I had to do that for my Jet-hots and my Pacesetters.

hmmm...i've done two Hooker LT's installs and the drivers side was a peice of cake...went in in 5 minutes...the passenger side was a different story though! Jack just that side of the motor up and lower the k-member is all i can think of! Good luck!

I had the same problem, although I still had to jack up the engine to put in the passenger side. Try taking out the two rear spark plugs on the driver side, and youll most likely have to go through the bottom. I have Jet hots and theyre a pain in the *** to get in, but once you get those puppies in there and crank it over, youll know it was worth the sweat and blood. Good luck man, if you have any more questions hit me up, my dads a mechanic and helped me with mine, Im sure I could get you some good tricks.

Re: need help with driverside header install

It seems th instructions that Jet Hot includes with their headers are not always universal...I too had to drop the K-member in order to get the driver's side to fit. I actually had to remove all 3 bolts on the drivers side of the k-member and loosen the 3 bolts on the passenger side. I also had to remove the suspension bolts that hold the driver's side spring to the fender well. Then I had to pry down on the K-member with a large pry bar on the driver's side in order to gain enough clearence to allow the header to fit in from the bottom. Definately much more work than what was described in the instructions.
