Need help! Debris in my oil!

Ok my oil level sensor (the one above the drain plug) was leaking bad so I decided to change it........
I drained the oil and put the plug back in and changed the filter........
Upon pulling the old one out I found that the float was loose on the shaft and that the backing plate that prevents it from sliding off was missing........
The plastic on the float looks brittle and a little disentergrated also......
I am assuming it (the backing piece) is in the pan......
It is maybe 65% the size of a dime and maybe 1/5th an inch thick......
I am assuming its plastic, it is on the replacement anyways.......

So what to do????

Is this thing big enough to cause major damage?

If I fill her back up and drain her should it come out???

What are my options????

I really dont want to pull the pan

Anyone experienced this?

Same thing happened to me. When I pulled my old oil sensor out the float fell off in the pan. I just left it in there. It has been 3 years and 20k miles since then and no problems.

I'd advise against it.... pulling the pan isnt terrible.
