Need Help, (Crank Key)

Well im doing my head and cam install and when i pulled my pulleys off my crank hub came off too. I didnt think anything of it until i pulled my timing cover off and i noticed that there was a keyway slot on the crank.

Long story short i cant find the key anywhere. Are they necessary? I dont see what good it would really do since the hub isnt keyed. Thanks guys

P.S. its a 97

Re: Need Help, (Crank Key)

There is no keyway in the crank so no key is needed. You will need to get it back on in the correct position though.

Ok i guess im still confused, there is a keyway cut in the crank but not on the hub. But on the inside of the hub you can see where it sat over the keyway. Thanks

As mentioned earlier, there is a keyway on the crank, but not on the hub, therfore a key is not used. I had thunderracing cut a keyway in my hub and also got a key from them. This is only really needed for supercharging so the hub doesnt spin under extreme loading.
