Exclamation need help with cooling problem

Hi guys

My 95 Z28/M6 has been having this problem latelt with high temps, and need some assistance. I sometimes have coolant leaking from my overflow tank area. I removed the overflow tank, no leaks, checked the tube going from the radiator to the overflow, holds air pressure. What I believe is going on is the hose that goes from the radiator is soft, allow coolant to go from the radiator to the overflow, but the tube colapses when trying to draw coolant. Anyone seen problems like this? The coolant is definitely coming from the overlow tank area, and the radiator level is steady. Although I have preiodically added coolant/distilled water to the overflow tank. Let me
know . Oh yeah, my temps stay around 170 driving, and get up to about 210 in traffic without a/c. Also I have new hypertec 160 degree thermostat.

TIA

Re: need help with cooling problem

I don't know about the leak problem, but the temperatures seem normal, cruising 170 is normal with 160 stat and 210 in stop and go traffic is normal. On the stock tune the fans are on at 234 and off at 226. If you had the ac on then it should reduce. You can reduce the teps by using a fan switch, or a pcm retune.

Re: need help with cooling problem

Have you done any recent work to it. H20 Pump, flush and fill? Replaced radiator cap. I assume that you have flushed and filled the system, because you have a 160 thermo.

Possible solutions:
1. Rebleed collant system, you could have some air in it.
2. Get GM Radiator Cap instead of O'Reilly or Autozone aftermarket cap and rebleed system.

I had the overflow tank puke on me too, it ended up being the crappy aftermarket cap I bought from O'Reilly and Autozone (I bought one from both stores) not holding the pressure...?? Once I bought the new GM cap and rebled the system properly the overflow did not puke at me anymore.

BTW: While driving you won't notice any problems, it is when you turn the car off, then it will throw up all over the place. If you have this symptom I suggest #2.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
