Cam Choice for 383 Stroker with AFR 210 Competition Ready Heads...

Hi all...

I'm going to be ordering a set of AFR 210 LT4 Competition Ready Heads for my 383 as well as an LT4 intake...

I'll probably bolt the heads on as "out of box" without any extra porting and just port match the intake as much as needed...

What CAM would work best with this setup... I'm thinking the cam that I'm currently running might not be big enough for my most potential... I will drive the car mainly on weekends and at the track... Just looking for ideas and opinions...

Thanks,
TDOG

Have Phil at AI spec a cam for you. What cam are you currently using? Seems to be working pretty well for you.

IMO i would fully port the heads and the get them flowed then have a custom cam made to work with your heads.... You have the heads off now why not get them done now? JMO....

Yes...The cam is doing very well...

I'm just wondering if there is a cam out there that would help even more with the AFR 210 Comps...

Current Cam selection on the car is 231/239 .555/.565 112 LSA

Thanks,
TDOG

Sounds like you'll have quite a few bucks invested in that short block/heads. Make the most of it and get a custom grind!

Ive got a Comp 239/245 112lsa brand new in box for sale... $230 shipped. It would be a nice step up from what you have now. Let me know if you are interested.

Just so you know there is SO much power hidden in tho's heads if you get them fully ported by AI, Port Pro's or someone like that. They are no where near ready to be bolted on right out of the box. As stated above, get them fully ported and have a custom grind cam made for your set up. You'll be 10x happier!!

Thanks Guys...

I should give Phil at AI a shout and see what possibilities there are...

Anymore CAM suggestions?

Michael...

What did your 383 with Ai Cam and Heads put down to the wheels on a Dyno Jet?

Thanks,

We just finished it so I haven't had it tuned or dyno'd yet. I'm still breaking in the engine on the old h/c tune I had, with the stock injectors. After 300 easy miles or so, I'll swap in the 42# and tune it correctly. I'll post some results in a couple weeks.
