Need help calling BS on a shop!
Need help calling BS on a shop!
Well I had posted how my transmission was leaking and I went ahead and changed out the transmission gasket and filter. Well, it was not that because today it was leaking much more than it had before I had changed that. I had done 2 weeks ago, a enw transmission case, 2600 hayden tranny cooler, pcmforless, gears, and PI 2800.
The shop took it off today and well when I got my vigilante put in I also had a new tranny case and all seals brand new. Well I have never heard anything about aftermarket seals and what is going on is BOTH of my seals are going out and only 2 weeks old. The shop told me that we should have gone with aftermarket seals that can hold up to the vigilante 2800 stall converter!
Would the converter be a good reason for both of the front and rear seals to go bad? Anything else that I should know that needs to be done with the mods I just did?

BS!
I think you should defenitely call BS! there have been plenty of guys to put converters on stock trannies with stock seals and all and never have the leakage problems you are describing. It sounds like an improper install of whatever seals they put in. This is my personal opinion but i think the shop messed up. Hope this helps

The shop had to mess up. I have done multiple converter changes and used stock seals and never had a problem. The shop must have installed the seals incorrectly or the wrong seals all together.
LOL! That's gotta rank with one of the biggest lines of BS I've EVER heard in here! I mean, sure, under SOME circumstances aftermarket seals would help, but I don't think so in your case. And besides, IF YOU DID need aftermarket seals, answer me WHY they didn't use them to begin with!
Sounds like you went to Chesapeake Transmission, or one of their close competitors.
My transmission was slipping and they wanted to claim there was nothing wrong (meanwhile, tranny fluid all over the ground) and they gave me this BS story about "Well, with these cars, everything's tied into everything. Even the temperature of the coolant can effect all the other sensors."
Whatever, idiot. Just fix the car (which they did NOT do). I took the car to a competent shop and got the problem fixed.
Anyway, this thread isn't about me, it's about you. I just figured I'd share that bit of info.
Sounds like another BS attempt from a shop to take advantage of their customer to me. Call BS, demand your money back, report them to the BBB.
HAND THEM THEIR ASSES!

If it's the same shop that did the seal install ask them why they didn't use the right seals to begin with. That is unless you gave them the parts to use. If they picked the seals, tell them to send the bill to the seal company to replace them. All parts have at least a 30 day warranty. The seal company would then say "yes the seal failed, we will pay or NO the seal was installed wrong. Either way you won't owe anything.
Before you get into it with them, call the MFR of the convertor (or the retailer) and ask them if they are aware of this make believe problem.
Lastly, don't bother calling the BBB, if a company doesn't pay the dues to belong to the BBB, then they can't do anything. The BBB is not some all mighty government agency. They are a company that charges dues.
If you do get into a pissing contest, I recommend you do it before you have them do anything. If they do the work and you refuse to pay, they can hold the car as long as they like under a mechanics lean. They can also get your title and sell the car so be careful. (At least that's the way it works in VA) not absolutely sure about your state. Obviously the court could get involved. The point is they could tie up your car for a lot longer than you would like so BE CAREFUL.
