Ok got the LT4 hotcam kit and headers installed got the car back on the road and had a friend tune it. About two days later after the cam was broken in tried to get on it and as soon as the car hit second it felt like it slipped out of second and then slammed back into gear. It slammed so hard it blew both of my third tail brake lights. So thought maybe the trans was slipping bit it was fine before the swap. Anyone know if it was the power I added to the car it could it be in the tuning. Second I just wanted to know if it is common for a Lt4 hot Cam kit to give off any knock retard I am getting anywhere from 0.6 to 6.0 deg. I just dont know what is wrong the car, its fine until it goes into closed loop then that is when I start getting it. I NEED HELP BAD ANY input is greatly needed.

Sorry for it being so long!!!

 

First, you should consider doing the LT4 Knock Module upgrade. That should take care of your false knock issues. As to why your transmission acted the way it did, the only thing that I can think of is that your buddy changed a parameter he shouldn't have while he was tuning. If your tranny was fine before the swap, I doubt it went out on you with the additional power you got from the hotcam kit. Good luck.

 

I know a loud exhaust can create false knock. Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? Did you pick up knock before the install or do you know if it has been there the whole time? Just make sure you KNOW it's FALSE knock and not real knock before you go trying to get rid of the retard. Don't want to be blowin up your engine or anything. Not sure about the tranny slipping though. I'm an A4 guy myself.

I agree, sounds like something may have got messed up with the tuning, causing the tranny not to shift properly.

 

Just to reply I have already done the LT4 knock mod and i didnt have any knock untill i did the cam and headers. Are you guys saying that after market exhaust can cause knock. Also I just wanted to know if the rockers and stuff tend to make alot of noise like the stock lt1. Also does anyone out there have a A4 tune for a car with the hot cam and 342 gears that I can get. Mainly i just need the tranny tune so I can see if anything my friend tuned my have gotten messed up.

Well with the tune i got from Madz28 (witch i sugest you do) my 1st to second shift at WOT is really hard, if and i do mean if my tires hook up it really gives me a whiplash efect and throws out my spare change from my cup holder lol
