Re: Need help with alternator!!

Going to look at all the links ya'll sent me to check it out...turns out it could be a battery problem as well. I think it could be a bad cell that's over working the alternator. Going to get that done first and go from there...I'm kinda overwhelmed by having to undo the serpentine belt. My step dad and I had to tackle that on an Explorer I used to have, while putting new heads on it. Oh well...guess I'll get it, if not does anyone want to volunteer to come help!?!

Thanks again ya'll!
Kelle

The belt is cake, I promise. Just slap the ole 13 MM on the tensioner, which is just on the other side of the crank, and turn. Presto! Belt is loose.

Yeah, my luck..there's no one here in bfe NC to even know where I'm talking about..I think I may have it though, I really think it's got a lot to do with the battery, I've got a foul emmission and I think it's battery acid. I'm just praying that getting a new battery will help. I've only had the car a year and apparently whoever had it before me dogged it.

Re: Need help with alternator!!

Where are you in NC? I'm in Myrtle Beach, and if it's not too far, I don't care a bit to come help. The serp. belt is a breeze, but it's easiest done from the bottom if you can. A breaker bar or long wrench will make it easer to turn the tensioner. You don't have to take it all the way off, just off the alternator, but that may be hard to do while loosening the tensioner from the bottom. Yeah, just take it all the way off. The alt. is a piece of cake!! You can do it, just take your time and be patient.

You know, now that I think about it NC is not really all that far from Auburn. I think that I may have one of those 13mm tensioner wrenches. I'll be on my way
