gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

like the title says. my 93 camaro lt1 6spd is only getting 10mpg. its 12gallon tank. can only go 120miles. is something wronge here?
i read the other posts when i did a search and one guy said he was getting 210 miles out of his car! what could be wronge. as far as i know the car is bone stock except someone has cut my convertor off.

i also want to knwo whether my injectors are stock or not. i looked at them and i couldnt find any identifiable marking's....they are purple if that means anything. <anyhelp is welcomed.

also i made one post earlier about my car doing shakes at about 90mph. well i bought a new torque arm that goes from the rear end to the transmission. it fixed everything. when i tooked the arm off today i also noticed the arm was bent so much that it was rubbing my driveshaft.

O2 sensors? That's one of the few things that can cause gas mileage to be THAT poor.... what have you done as far as a "tune-up"?

Just as a quick checker, how fast do you accelerate? The gas pedal isn't a button but more like a dimmer switch (as i've been told). Other then that check the O2 sensors like stated.

o2 sensors....how do i check if they are bad? I have changed the air filter but that is about it. the person i bought it from said they had it checked/tuned up monthly. i am starting to think they lied to me.
my driving habits >>>i sometimes get on it hard but usually take it easy. i usually cruise around 60-70 mph.

Behind each exhaust manifold. Youll see them bungs on the exhaust with wires going to them. Theyre impossible to miss.

thanks Steveo.
I hate these new cars. all this electronic B.S.
I like working on them great american cars made in the pre 1970 era.

also another thing i remember that might need to be factored in is that the car has 137,000 miles on it. any other recommendtions?

I get about three times that many MPG. Yes, something is wrong! I vote for the o2's.

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

how many o2 sensors is there on my 93? i saw somewhere on the board there is two o2 sensors for the convertors located near the rear of manifolds and two others for something else near the front of the exhaust manifolds. <or is that wronge.
if that is correct^^^^^^^can i get by with just changing out the front two or should i change out all the o2 sensors?
thanks for the help guys.
its welcomed.

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

Is that an aftermarket tank?? Ive got a 93 and i thought i had the worst mileage with about 13-15, but i have a 15.5 gallon tank (stock one), if its the stock tank i thought they were 15 gallons or so.

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

O2 sensors alone won't cut your milage in half...the computer uses the 02 sensors as the third sensor it looks at for AF ratio. It first uses the readings from the MAF and MAP sensors. Do you have a SES (check engine light)? If so get it scanned and that will tell you which sensor is bad. When my 02 sensor went bad, I got a SES light. At the time my MAP sensor was goin in and out.

With that many miles, a tune up should be your VERY first step. Get....spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, air filter, fuel filter, and PVC vavle. All these items are fairly cheap, and should be replaced anyway. After the tune up, see if you can get a hold of a scanner or have a shop scan your car. With the scanner you can see the readings coming from all these sensors so see if they are defective. The computer is there to help you not part hunt. Don't buy and replace something you don't need to.

Tune it up, then scan it
