need help 94 z28 distributor
Re: need help 94 z28 distributor
if you are good with tools and mechanics its about 5-6 hours. If you have ever removed a pully or water pump before it is very easy.
Of the 2 cars I pulled em from I only needed a pully puller for one of them. You gotta take off the intake, drain the water, move the air pump out of the way remove the water pump, then the belt and crank pulley. Then you can get at the opti. After doing it once I was able to r2 the second one in less then 3 hours including the run to the autoparts store.

It goes in exactly where it needs to make sure you align the marks or it won't run and ya gotta start over, while your down there you might wanna upgrade the timing chain there pretty cheap and it would be good upgrade to make especially if your ever planning on turnin some rpm

While it may appear the splined drive shaft will only assemble to the cam sprocket in one position, it is very possible to assemble it incorrectly. Happens all the time. USe Shoebox's info, and check carefully as you assemble:

Why do you want to change the timing chain? Not required if all you are doing is changing the water pump and distributor. Again, Shoebox has a guide to a complete cam swap, which will have info regarding removing and reassembling the timing chain.
