Exclamation Need a GOOD replacement rack&pinion

Anyone know where I can get a high-quality replacemnt steering rack? I'm on my third one from NAPA in 9mo and the POS is leaking again.

At this point I'm about to go back to a factory GM rack (p/n anyone?) but I fear how much it'll cost me. So if anyone knows where I can get a good, remanufactred rack I'll may go for that instead.

Also do all V8 cars have the same steering ratio? I was thinking maybe the WS6 or SS cars were even better than the std piece.

Thanks!

Part # 26044844 Codes L32, LT1, FE2 ac delco # 36-9027

Thanks guys! The glove box says I have the FE2 suspension. Anyone know the difference between the F41 and the FE2? Specifically which one has the quicker steering?

I've been looking but I haven't found anything yet...

Ok, the FE2 is the base V8 suspension and the F41 the V6 suspension. The FE2 has the quicker steering ratio (14.4:1 vs 16.9:1) unless the V6 car as the Y87 option which gives it the V8 ratio.

Jason, I sold you a rack a couple months ago, and sent it without a line. You emailed me a pic and called questioning in why the lines were not on the rack, I told you it was not included, but I would sent it. I typed a makeup order for the part, and gave it to the guys for shipping. I seen a post that said you still have not recieved this part?? Let me know if you still need the line.

Thanks Scott

Scott,

Not incuded? I think you misunderstood which part I was talking about despite the picture I sent.

FWIW the other replacement racks I bought from NAPA included this line as its a critical part of the rack. Saying its not included is like trying to sell someone a complete rearend without the axles. Furthermore if they weren't included then why would you give me one and not the other? They are nearly identical and they run side by side on the rack.

And no, I never recieved the part and at this point I dont need it anymore (took the piece I needed off the old rack).

Thanks anyways,
Jason
