Need to change to a NSA Rocker, help!
Ok folks, I am getting a custom ground cam for my 383. As talking with the guy who is doing the cam, he told me the springs he wants me to use on the setup.
As it stands, I will be using my Nu-tek cnc ported LT1 heads, with stock sized valves. Currently I use GM perf. parts 1.6 roller rockers which are self aligning (i dont use guide plates).
The cam guy said basically this.....
The rockers will hit on the valve locks and cause a bad issue.
If you can find out the Part Number or length on the valves you have that
might help. I can't say for any certainty I can give you a setup that will
work with that even if the valve is longer than stock, but I do know a non
self aligning rocker setup like a 7/16 Comp Pro Mag works perfectly.
I have no issue with buying different rockers to satisfy this need. I will just sell my GMPP 1.6's to off set the cost.
But with this non-self-aligning rocker, what do I actually need parts wise?? What part #'s, and where to get them. I have never had to do this so I need some help.
Also, any pics of the set up, so I can use for reference. And I think for good measure I will replace my pushrods, I beleive they are HARDEND from nu-tek when they did the motor, but there is no info on the build sheet specifically saying hardend push rods so if anyone has a part # for that too, I would appreciate.

Here is the part number for the Comp Pro Mags. I took these part numbers from Thunderracing, a site sponsor.
Pro Mags 63-1305-16
GM guide plates 20-14011051
ARP 7/16 rocker studs 113-134-7103
Then you'll need hardened pushrods. The pushrods really need to be measured once the motor is put together. Also make sure you get some 8 guide plates as you need 1 for each cylinder. That should be all that you need.

Below Thunder racing listes these for the pushrods, do these sound right?? I am going to get new factory roller lifters.
Any other input is always appreciated.
Oh, and do we use Loctite (RED) when putting the studs in?

Make sure you get GM guide plates as Comp's don't fit. The pushrods really need to be measured. When you get all that machine work done it will change the length of push rods you need. I personally would use loc-tite.
