Need Cam Advice

Hi, Im currently having my shortblock rebuilt.... I have a Heads cam intake setup on the way in a month full valvetrain and everything......

But my short block is complete now, I was thinking about throwing in a cam for now until I get my heads and cam setup, I dont want to change the rockers or anything or valvesprings right now, since there coming with the heads and cam, just want to run a cam on the stock heads for a month or so..... what would be the best cam to do this ?

This will only be temporary and basically to break in the shortblock

Any ideas I have about a 500 dollar cam budget... Cam plus whatever I need

pretty sure your going to have to do valvesprings if you cam it. i would just wait and do it all at once. I'm going to be doing the 503 on my stock heads but i would wait and do it all together...why take it apart twice

Stock cam is the only cam that will work with stock springs...

If you had a 500 dollar budget, you may be able to do the Hotcam kit, but even so, the LT4 springs aren't quite enough to handle that cam either. As mentioned, just stick with the stock cam. Be patient.

Advise that you go with a nice set of NSA 1.6 RRs, hardened push rods, GM guide plates, and quality springs that would accommodate the profile of a cam that you would probably go with down the road.

You are going to have to do this anyway and adding RRs (which is alot less work than a cam) is the next best thing to doing a cam and worth some hp/tq.JMHO

Never mind: I see that you are doing all of this...threw me off when you said you just want to "throw" a cam in-----that's one thing you don't want to do. JMHO
