Need basic Exhaust Help

Hey guys. Here is my problem.

I found a local muffler shop that just so happens to have a 3 inch pipe for my car, bent in the stock position. This is what I need because I have the Borla rear section. The problem I think I may be facing is that since the inlet to the muffler is 2.5, just puttin a flange on that would be useless. I want to bubble the inlet to 3 inch so that I'm getting catback like flow out of this exhaust I'm doing.

So my question is, can I extent this inlet to a 3 inch without cracking anything, the inlet has 2 slits in it, so my exhaust guy told me that it would crack it and ruin the muffler if he extended it. I'm really confused, I should have just bought the catback but I was too stupid.

What am I to make of this?

If the exhaust guy says no, it would probably be best to leave that alone. A full catback would be best but I dont know how bad it is going to hurt you if you go from the 3in pipe to the 2.5in inlet. Also, is the pipe mandrel or pressure bent. If its pressure bent, its probably crimped to 2.5in at the bend over the axle anyways. I know its not much help but its all I got. Good luck.

With the high flow cat and the muffler, do you think that the exhaust is really still as restricted as it always was? (Discluding the headers)

Look, I know your the young guy(16) from LS1.com and money is hard to come by, but just wait until you can save up enough $$$, sell your current rear Borla section, and then buy the full Borla cat-back so that you can have the adjustability option and extra flow. It will be a lot easier this way. Or just buy another cheaper cat-back system to replace what you already have(which wouldn't cost as much but still flow better).
