need advice

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my 93 Lt1 with A4 (700r4 trans swap) is doing some crazy stuff! the car starts and sounds strong in idle, but when i put it in gear and take off, the thing runs horribly! the engine sounds like a lawnmower when accelerating and it has no power until i hit about 50 mph. once it hits 50, everything smooths out as long as i cruise. anytime i try to go WOT, the engine bogs and sounds like a briggs and straton. now the things i have done: i checked fuel pressure at the rail. it's excellent. my buddy put a noid light on the FI's and we cranked the car. timing is good. fuel injectors are not the issue. so the car gets fuel from what we can tell. the opti was replaced about 3-6 months ago for the 4th time. one person suggested i might have a bad exhaust manifold. took the car to an exhaust shop. they said the exhaust was fine, except that the car ran rich. heard what sounded like a slight lifter tick from the passenger side. took off the valve cover. half of the rockers were able to be wiggled by hand while the other half would not move. turned the crank by hand, half the rockers moved. the others, they still didn't move. i need some ideas on what this can be. i want to get my car fixed but don't know where to start.

BTW this happened after an oil change. i've only used one type of oil in this car since i bought in '03. one thing though, when i checked the oil before it was changed, it was really really black. usually, it's a dark brown before i change it.

Helpful hints, to get more traffic on your posts.....

Pick a "topic" that gives people some sort of an indication of what kind of "advice" you need.

Do not start your post with a bunch of ----------------'s. That prevents people from using the "preview" function (holding cursor over the topic) to see if its a problem they may have knowledge to help you with.
