You need to specify at the flywheel or rear wheels...

Well, FWHP and RWHP are intimately related, but not the same thing. So, I think many people do care and you do need to specify. 500rwhp with an automatic is not practical. With an M6 it can be done with a lot of $$$ and time. Great heads, big cam, good exhaust system and tuning. You won't see that much rwhp with a moderate cam. 23 degree heads with the displacement of an LT1 just won't allow that to happen, IMHO. A big cam will surely be needed.

Just my $0.02.

It takes about 18-20.000.00 dollars to do it n/a.You can do it with a blower pretty easy, and there is always NOS (the hose).

As Rich points out... flywheel HP is very important to many people. Without knowing what trans/drivetrain combo you are running or planning to run in the future, its impossible to tell what you have to do to make the power at the rear wheels. The cost of the engine is proportional to the flywheel HP, not the rwHP. I lost 35 rwHP swapping from a T56 to a TH400, but the car is just as fast with less rwHP... the convertor keeps it in the torque sweet spot a lot longer. "rwHP" is truly an over-rated concept. So, it seems sorta rude

There's also Nitrous Express, Compucar, ZEX, Edelbrock etc. etc.

What do you want 500 rwhp for, just to say you have it? What are your suspension plans?

What I find comical is he's blowing off the few people on this forum that know how to get him what he wants.

I wasn't trying to be rude, blow anybody's opinon off, or anything else. I was simply disappointed by what I heard to an extent. I am going to just try to do well on some "ausome" heads (mock me if you must :-) ) and a decent sized cam on a 396.....so I will just have to let yall know what kinda numbers I can put down. Thanks

Re: naturally asperiated 500 HP??

Just for reference. My buddy did 12:1 396, CNC + hand ported AFRs, all the bolt-ons, and a 248/256 SR cam and put down 487rwhp through a 9 inch spinning 28inch slicks m6 car. It can be done, but as said above you need a big cam, and some ausome heads (lt1 heads arent gonna cut it, ported by god or not)

Just curious.... are these the awesome heads that you plan to make 500rwHP with?
