My transmission sings....why?
My transmission sings....why?
Well since i installed my slp clutch i have had what i think is clutch chatter. It sort of makes a rattleing noise when i'm starting off in first gear. Sometimes the car will make a clunk when i engage/disengage a gear. But last night the noise got louder. Then this morning while driving to work it started to sing. It got a lot more noticable. Even when i just drive the car in lets say 3rd gear and give it gas i can hear the rattle noise. Anybody have any idea's on what this can be. The car still shifts fine, and engages fine, but the fact that the noise is getting louder is worrying me. I don't wanna have to drop the transmission again. Or even worse have to get the tranny rebuilt.
to me it sounds like the Throwout bearing Retainer fell off, no big deal you can do without the retainer, just open the transmission inspection plate & see if you see it laying there, if you do just take it out, thats all, lets hope thats it, I very much doubt that its the pilot bearing as when that goes it ussully rattles aswell & vibrates the tranny.
Well actually sometimes when i'm starting out in 1st the tranny will shake a lot. The same way when you don't give it enough gas. But i'm pretty sure i am giving it enough. Do i gotta remove the starter to take off the inspection plate? I can't really remember. All i know is i'm tired of dealing with transmissions, i'm in the process right now helping my friend replace his clutch in his 95 gt.
