My Paceseter LT's are falling apart

I've had them on for 1 1/2 years now, and the coating is just coming off in big flakes and chunks. From the top they look fine, but underneath is scary, I can see uncoated metal now just rusting away.
I dont drive in snow or anything, it does rain alot here in the winter...but still. ~14k miles on these things.

Guess its time to save up for some Kooks. $$$$

Its common on alot of coated headers. Youll see it on Hookers and Jet Hots too.

The only headers that will last forever are Kooks ... And it will take you forever to save for them ...

You get what you pay for. Flaking, and I am still content with mine. They will last a while before they rot through. Look how long uncoated headers last even. The extra $100 for the coating is gonna get you a extra couple years out of them ... Just be happy you shelled out the cah for the coating.

Re: My Paceseter LT's are falling apart

they are good flowing headers, period. I was not impressed by the bir**** welds on some parts of the headers. i also found some pieces of metal inside the collector that were just hanging out. hanging off of the inside of the collector. also, their quality control sucks. Some people never have problems with fitment, some do. and they are all different. i have to take off 1/2" from my motor mount so that the headers would not touch them. They are still really close though. they also come close to the k-member. this is all on the passenger side. drivers side is fine. some peopl have 1/2" clearance where mine are close to touching. their quality control just sucks!!! the coating is cheap and is only on the outside. As long as mine don't touch and get false knock retard, i'm fine. you can't see much of the headers anyway on a 4th gen. their peformance is good, quality sucks!! I'll keep mine till they look like swiss cheese

There's a reason they are so cheap.

Save up for stainless.
I have the coated Pace Setters on a daily driver here in Pittsburgh.
It rains a lot here, and the winters suck since they use road salt and fun chemicals to melt the snow and ice.

Up top, the headers are still pretty and shiny and nice.
Down under before the collector, the coating is long gone and rusty.

Mine have had oil leaking all over them and been driven for the past two years and aren't rusting.

Re: My Paceseter LT's are falling apart

I had the same problem with hooker ceramic and FLP ceramic. Buddies had problems with jet hot ceramic.

ONly cure is stainless, or nickle dip a mild steel header (i did this to my pacesetters almost 2 years ago and look great still, my hookers lasted like a month before they started rusting)
