My does that too. It's hit me in the head once. ****ing hurt.

 

Another ghetto fix is to drill a hole in the strut shaft when it's fully extended and stick a nail in the hole. Takes up less space than the old stick method, which I used for some years in my mustang.

 

Just do your car right and buy new ones. If sixty bucks is too much then trade it in for something affordable.
