My distributor keeps dieing
My distributor keeps dieing
I have a 95 z28 with an LT1 350. since June of this year the distributor dies and quits firing and have replaced 2 after markets. Is the answer an OEM distributor? So far haven't driven much over 40 miles when it chokes. Usually when it reaches operating temperature 210 degrees. Sometimes restarts but runs like a cement mixer then dies and won't restart. The first one that died prior to the last 2 after about a couple of years was an MSD then down hill from there. No leaks from water pump. Love my Motorcycle but like to drive my Zee also. HELP.....

Re: My distributor keeps dieing
What fails when it "dies"? Failures can be caused by the cam dowel pin being too long, for example. That would damage the rotor and cap. Is the rotor coming loose - common problem if you don't loc-tite the rotor screws before installing? Have you found oil or mositure in the "failed" units?
How did you determine they "failed"? Problems with the optical cam position sensor will set codes. Did you have codes?
Finally - brand of units used? The cheap Chinese ripoffs on ebay might have a 40 mile service life.
