My coolant temp sensor snap... What to do?
My coolant temp sensor snap... What to do?
So the wire that connects to the end of the coolant temp sensor on the driver side of the block obviously didnt like being connected to it and just snaped right off!!!
Now what do i do!! I couldnt figure it out at 1st till finally i saw that the sensor was still in there but there was NO wires connected to the end of it!!
Please tell me that you can switch out the wire/sensor part without having to solder another peice of wire in or getting another wiring harness.. Cuz that would really suck.

Oo well its not the sensor that goes into the block its the sensor that goes into the sensor that goes into the block lol if that makes sense The one with the wire that connects to it. THe wire snaped away from that sensor

Don't drive the car until the sensor issue is settled.
My '96 has been parked since May because the sensor in
the drivers side head broke at expressway speeds and within
20-30 seconds a head gasket let go.
I'm currently looking into a rebuilt, stock LT1

Its the one that sends to the gauge. Driver side right between the 1st and 2nd spark plug. I've driven on it fine and didnt have a problem so far. Hell when we did my header install we broke the actual grey peice that goes into the block and drove it like that for 120 miles(had to get home).
But this time the wire to the back of the sensor just seemed to snap off from it.
Re: My coolant temp sensor snap... What to do?
Did the wire actually break or did the connector just break? You should be able to pick up the weatherpack connector at the dealer, or maybe even a parts store. You could either solder the new pigtail in or remove the wires from the old connector and put them in the new one.

The wires actually broke.
As for the head gasket thing.. How could it cause a head gasket to blow?? It just sends it to the gauge cluster right...?

I bought mine totalled nad rebuilt it. On mine the wire wasnt even in the connector.
Unplug the connector, take the wire, strip the very end of it, and put it in the B side ( I think ) of the connector. If you look at the connector real close, once its unplugged youll see a little A and B , but im pretty sure the wire goes in the B side of it, anyways, just stick it in there, and then pinch it in with needle nose pliers. It was so long ago that I did it that I dont even remember how ... I think you have to pull the plug end ( Which goes INTO the sensor ) OUT, like pull it through, then run the wire through the connector, into the plug end, crimp it down really well, put some anti corrosive electrical **** on it, and push it back into the connector. Then plug it in.
