My car won't start, help!

Alright i got up this mornin and cranked my car up and put it in the garage and it started just fine...then about 4 hours later i'm starting to head to a friends house and it wont fire up..it acts like it wants to turn over but it just hesitates and idles at like 100-200 rpms for a few seconds just barely on and shuts off...i saw smoke coming from the air filter and realize after a few attempts i flooded it so i let it sit for about 30 minutes came back out and it did the same thing again...i just put on a flowmaster muffler yesterday and i have a gutted out cat...i'm wondering if it is getting too much back pressure from that or something..it's almost like it isnt getting any fuel or something...any suggestions of what it may be??

ive come to the conclusion that it is in fact my fuel filter...i believe the person that owned the car before me never changed it...i can definately say that she never changed the coolant either because i just flushed it and it was pretty much mud and rust lol

o.k. so what are you missing?

first you need to know where to start....you need 3 things...compression, fire, fuel.....
