Yah, I've run my car open header before also, never had a problem. That's why I don't think that's the problem.

I can't see my O2's freaking out causing the issue.

OK, it was just a thought, and I guess not much of one at that.

i have heard of 02's going bad with open headers if you do not have around 18" of pipe on ur headers after the 02's, so it still would be something that is easy to check i guess.

also, running ur package, i would find a place to do a dyno tune

With open headers, the 02 sensors are very close to the outside elements. Incoming air can possibly effect the readings on the 02 sensors creating some buggy drivability issues.

I've debated disconnecting the O2's to see what happens. I might try that tomorrow, just to see.

It's BAD though. The car is bucking wildly at part throttle.

If you disconnect htem make sure to reset the pcm too or it will go back to the stored data that made the car run so bad. And I ran open headers for ~40 miles and it drove exactly the same as it did with an exhaust on it, so I don't see it being the problem either.

Javier, won't just unplugging the MAF and then starting the car keep it in open loop (thereby ignoring any O2 sensor feedback)?

I tried unplugging the MAF, but it didn't make any difference.

Maybe what Rob (speedemon24) said also applies to the MAF, you need to reset the PCM to get rid of the stored values?

Looks like there are quite a few of us that will be running new LT1 setups this season. I swapped to LE3 LT1 heads/cam (solid roller) T&D shaftmount rockers, Canton oiplan, BMR front suspension, BMR torquearm and a Moser 12bolt. I am in the middle of putting all these parts together and should be running in the next couple weeks. Later Clint

I've always wanted to see some LE heads with a solid roller behind them, that should make for a sick combo. Keep us up to date on it. On the otherhand I'm waiting for my LE2's to get back, so I guess I might count as someone with a a new combo.

Just an update, I unplugged my O2's today and reset my PCM... and the car ran PERFECT.

Guess Bryan was right, the problem was the O2's being so close to the open header. Maybe it's "ok" for some cars, but not "ok" for others.. who knows.

I figure when I get my exhaust back on the car I'll also get new O2's, as these are probably fouled out now and no good anyways. Runs so well kinda makes you just want to get rid of 'em lol.

I'm still following Yank's 150 mile torque converter break in... so no WOT driving, but I gave it a little more throttle today and goddamn does this car pull hard.. even at less than 1/2 throttle.

I think I'm in LOVE with this Yank No lockup problems either.

So my GUESS was correct then. Just messing with ya, the only reason I mentioned it was I read it here. It's nice to have this site, isn't it? I know I'd be lost without it.

Good to hear it's running better now, I look forward to seeing your track times

Did you ever end up deleting your EVAP stuff?
