could be, but i doubt it. What was your MPH?

lets start with what do you know for a FACT is done to the car?

Do you know there are 373s in it? How about the 58mm TB? And the stall?

Yea pretty much the gears, stall, intake, TB, exhaust, headers are facts. Just dont know about the stroker. When i start the car, it sounds like very small cam.

that is more than likely due to the exhaust

i doubt it really is a stroker, but it could be.

Only way to really see is to pull it apart, otherwise get somebody to read your PCM file and see if it was tuned as a 383

What is the elevation, and what were the weather conditions when you ran the 12.9? And, as already asked, what was the MPH? Its the MPH that tells you what the HP is.

Also don't forget to throw the weight into the factor as well. Please give us all the info you can come up with to help you out... MPH, weight, Alt, Weather, Track where it ran the 12.9, also it could be a 383 with a small cam and that could easily be a 12.9 full weight car. Remeber just because someone builds a stoker doesn't meant they A) Knew what they were doing, B) was not looking for more power (hell, they could have just needed a rebuild and through a 3.75 cast crank in there for a cheep 383 build)...

Just because you have a 383 doesn't mean you have any more power then a 355 or stock 350 if there was nothing done to the heads and cam. So if someone needed a rebuild and didn't know better then the shop could have easily talked them into a cast 383 for cheep, just by telling them stories of more power, and then they get what your looking at. Pretty much bolt-on power with 33 more cubes...

more cubic inches will make a cam sound smaller

What was the time in the 1/8? I ran an 8.2 in the 1/8 with my car in sig... here's some videos. I think mine will be in the 7's once I learn to launch with the t56 better. I'm in the close lane, the far lane is shock6906 (bolt ons and gears).

why would you buy a car without proof of something like that? how do you know you dont have a stock lt1 and paid for a 383 stroker?

12.9 seems slow.

why stock heads? you have to let that engine breathe.

my 383/le2 heads with a mild cam/ stock rearend and stock 3.23 gears/a4 with 3200 vigilante stall/ full weight car/ mail order tune car runs 7.7 in the 1/8 on street tires.

so if that is a 383 get some worked heads on it.

So your taking a step forward in the trying to find out what is in your car, good job. 12.9 would be fast for just a bolt-on, so there is a good chance there is a Hot Cam in it.

I still think you should just take apart your motor a bit and take some measurements. Then you would be able to sleep at night.

109-110 traps are good for lower than 12.9 especially in a stalled auto.

I'd bet you are cammed for sure.

I can completely believe the mods done to the car. And without heads, that's the biggest limiting factor. Heads on that thing and you'd gain a ton of power.
