When I first crank my 97 Z is makes a quick barking sound. I suspect it might be related to the belt tensioner or in the clutch. Anybody had this problem?

 

Bark or chirp? If it's a chirp it could be your starter pinion gear binding on the ring gear. Shimming the start will fix this.

 

I should have given you more info. It is more of a bark that only occurs when the car is cold, but it does happen for a few minutes, not just in the starting mode. Today I noticed that I can feel something in the clutch pedal (vibration) as the noise occurs. Could it be a clutch fork that needs lubrication?
