Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

Well James about 12 of my 16 rockers were lose as hell. My cam started loping more as we got them adjusted. As far as the spray goes. We video taped from my passenger side window and at the launch i pulled half a car and then right after the 1-2 shift I pulled a little more to were his headlight fell back to where u cant see it anymore. Then all the sudden out of nowhere he comes flying by me?? If he didnt spray me then my car must have been down on power from the rockers. Oh well I guess we will found out who's car really is king this Friday

Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

We have really only gotten on it twice with the tune. The first time Steve was driving and was going about 20 and nailed it and it just took off like a rocket. He says that if I would have had that tune when we raced I would have been about 4-5 cars in front of him instead of about 1. The second time I was going about 15 mph and hammered it and it dropped down into first and just melted the tires. The motor was screaming and the car didnt even feel like it was moving all that fast and then I let off the gas and the ***-end straightend up.....it completely melted them from a 15mph roll. I hope to be able to break 12.7's on Friday if they can prep the track decent. I guess we will found out wont we.

Hey I had the same thing happen a few times at the track! I have a 95Z also but with the 3.42 gears. It would hang at the end of 2nd gear like it wanted to go to higher RPMs but ran into the rev limiter. It was really frustrating because I was trying to see what my best time would be then kept hanging in second.

Yea, I know what you mean, the first time it boucned off the rev limiter probably would have been a high 13.5-13.6 run according to my 60' and 1/8th mile, i ended up letting off and touching the breaks for a 14.2 @ 83 oh well. I hate my car at the moment. haha.

Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

i had some friends that had stalled lt1's with the same problems. most common fix i have heard is to switch to the corvette syncro's. One of my friends did that and they still had the problem. What solved it was raising the rev limiter to 6k and have it shift at something like 5800k or so. They haven't had a problem since.

Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

I just got my tune from Ion and I had my shift points set at about 6300RPm and my rev limiter set at about 6600 I beleive. It only does it to me when my tires are completely spinning so I dont think its a problem with the tranny or anything. Peace, Dustin.

Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

Hey guys, I'm real good friends with ChevyTuffD.A. and James found out what we've been up to all week. So I can go ahead and let the cat out of the bag for you guys here.. We got Dustin's car tuned and at the same time got our friend Steve's car tuned for his new cam. Then we got Dustin's valves adjusted properly and set-up his Zex 75 shot. Then on Steve's 93 Camaro with full-boltons and spray, we got a second nitrous tune so he can spray 100 wet shot! Oh, and did I mention, we managed to get a complete heads and cam swap on Steve's car too! So yea, James (96WS6Formula) just found out today about what we've been up to in our little garage this past week and it's too late for him to do anything about it. Well execpt up his nitrous shot, but he's still running the stock fuel pump right now and he's going to lose anyways, so it's pointless. Just thought I'd fill you all in! LAter

Hey James, so do you like stock or altezza Camaro tail-lights better? Dustin and Steve are just wondering which you'd prefer to look at all night at Muncie this friday. Later

Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

Well guys, looks like that red firebird in town got the better of them tonight. Congrats James... Anyways, the track prep turned out to suck pretty bad. We was hooking these two 12 second cars better on the streets! 2.2+ 60 foot times all night. At our local 1/8th mile track, 1.8's are possible. This was on heated Nitto's at that.. Oh well, it happens to everyone I guess. That's what makes this game so much fun for all of us I guess. Let's tweak the cars and go again in a few weeks.

Then on Steve's car, we had a hell of a time with the Comp R lifters. Eventually, I got them set correctly I believe, which sucked because the very first time I adjusted them, I had them correct but these old small block chevy guys I run around with thought they was loose and I didn't know what I was talking about. But the timeslips don't lie, so I ran the valves with the car running, hand tighted the nuts, turned the car off and added 1/16th of a turn to them all and set the locks. Which yeilded the best times N/a for the night. His car lost 5 tenths of a second in the 1/8th from the previous runs before the cam and head work but picked it up in the 1/4 to run the same times it has been running. On spray, the car managed to break into the high 12's at 114 mph but had traction problems the whole way. So it looks like we need to pick up a stall convertor that's big enough for the cam and get some new (better) numbers. So we'll see what we end up with in a few weeks.

Dustin's car was running slower times tonight too but we believe that is all in the 60ft. area as well. He did manage to get one bottle pass in but it was just too much for those Nitto's tonight. Not sure on the times, but I'm sure he will post them on here.

On a side note, we did try to get James (96WS6Formula) to go heads up on the streets but with having the best timeslips ( and worse I seen a 14.0 run N/a on his car ) he just wanted to enjoy his victory for now and go home. I tried giving him a filled bottle, tank of gas, and willing to throw 200 down on the race, but he decilined for the night. Oh well, we'll get these 2 cars issues solved and work from there.

Hey james, would you care to post any of your timeslips for the night? I'm a little curious. 12.50's to 14.00 is a BIG range for not having bigger than a 100 shot and ****ty 2.7 60 ft times. So I'd just like to see some of them. Especially when I seen times in between those. Then again, it could just be that ****ty track prep. Thanks.

Re: My auto bounced off the rev limiter out of first.

Well I settled the score with the WS6 tonight We were in a 3 way race with a Lightning. I was on motor and the WS6 was on a 100 shot and we were neck and neck and I had an extra passenger with me too. So me and the WS6 went on another run. Me on spray and him on spray. Lets just say I pulled on him from the very start James, nice race man. I am not trying to talk **** here, just happy that I beat u. Oh and as for the Lightning, I wasnt even concerned about him, he was far enough back and I was concentrating on me and the WS6. Peace, Dustin.
