I was running 1/4 mile yesterday and it felt like my car hit the rev limiter right before it shifted out of first gear. It has never done this before and it still shifted pretty hard when it did shift. I was spinning pretty decent out of the hole, do u think that might have caused it. Is it possible it just broke lose when it shifted and then revved to high or what??? Has this ever happend to anyone else. I raced on the street after I was at the track and it didnt do it. I only got to make one run at the track so I dont know if it would have done it on the next run or not.Thanks, Dustin.

 

That happens to me every now and then. The other day I floored it from a light and it went to about 5800 before I got scared and let off the throttle. It's happened probably 2 other times in the 4 months I've had the car. Only from dig though, when I race from a roll it doesn't do it.

I have no clue what it could be. Usually my tranny shifts at about 5200 but every now and then it goes as high as the solid red line, I guess about 5800 if I had to take a guess.

 

Mine has one time but it was my fault. I was holding the shifter and when it shifted to third it made me pull the shifter into 2nd and there it went, I responded almost instantly and popped it back up to D.


Besides that never happened before.

 

Your car shifts that low at WOT? Mine doesnt shift till around 6k RPM's I beleive.

 

Mine shifts right at the 5700-5800 rpm redline everytime so far which is correct I believe.

 

My old 94 Z28 did that when the tranny was on its last leg. Hope yours lasts

 

Actually........now that you guys said that.....I'm thinking the correct point of shifting is 5800, and that's what mine does.....then when it picks a time to act strange, it's going at about 6000.

I'll test it out tonight, I'm going racing so it may or may not happen.

 

I always thought mine shifted at 5800... but i was in D going 12x and it did not want to shift... ugg... hard to make a motor shift. Take care of your bearings!!

 

U guys might be correct. Maybe it does shift at 5800, I have never really concentrated enough to look that close at it. My tranny was just rebuilt about 2k miles ago and I also have an aftermarket cooler. Like i said in my first post. It only did it on that one run at the track. I raced on the street the same night and it didnt do it. I got on it a few times today (not WOT) but kinda hard. It shifted just fine. Maybe it was just that freak time or something and maybe it had something to do with the track and me not hooking. I find it hard to beleive my tranny is going out already, they guy that rebuilt it has done countless tranny rebuilds and knows what he is doing. It didnt feel like it was slipping at all. It just felt like it let it rev a little to high before it shifted that time. I will keep a close eye on it next time. Thanks, Dustin.

 

I think it is because you keep getting litup by the red firebird in town. thats what i think the problem is

 

James is that U??? Shut-up the only way u can keep up is with that bottle of yours. I noticed today that I have a loud rattling sound coming from my PS valve cover. I am going to pull it off in the morning and find out whats goin on. Oh, and tell Pat I said thanx for sprayin me last night, I thought we had an agreement on motor only.

Mine has never bounced off the limiter at the end of first but I have done it quite a few times going into 3rd for some reason. It only does it at the track, it goes 3 ways....... shifts fine, hesitates real bad, or bounces off the limiter, dunno why...... my car revs to 6k before shifting too but I'm assuming thats part of the previous owner since it came with 3.73's when i bought it.

dustin pat says that he did not spray you. but i dont know I got the race on tape and he didnt seem to just all at once leave you it was just a steady pull. the bottle is my best friend you need to get rid of that piece of **** zex kit and get a TNT. Let me know what is up with your car when you find out
