Muffler on 4 inch Mufflex

Im buying a 4inch Mufflex off an LS1 that my friend got in a trade. Hes not sure what kind of muffler is on it, and I havent looked at it yet. If I remember correctly the Mufflex exhaust was offered with a flowmaster or Spintech muffler (although Im not sure). Any help on determining which muffler it is or what they look like?

Thanks

Spintech's will have a steel look on the outside and not be smooth.

Go to www.spintechmufflers.com and look at them. I know the Spintech's would flow better than the blowmaster muffler.

Well looking at the site and going by his description it sounds like a flowmaster muffler. I have a borla exhaust on now so Ill probably lose a few ponies, but it should sound better.

Thanks

The Flowmaster is an aluminized oval muffler with a 4" in, and a single 4" out. The SpinTech is a rectangular stainless muffler, 4" in, dual 3" out. you will be able to tell the difference.

OK.... let me get this straight... you think because it is a "Flowmaster" that a 4" Mufflex catback will lose you HP compared to your Borla exhaust (3" adjustable catback?). Are you serious? The 4" Mufflex, with the Flowmaster has been demonstrated, on a chassis dyno to support over 1,100HP, with no measurable loss of HP compared to the same car with just a Borla 3" XR-1 collector muffler on each Hooker LT. I've done the same tests at the 800HP level and got the same results.

If the 4" Mufflex allowed this 3,900# convertible to run low 9's at well over 150mph, I seriously doubt it will "lose a few ponies" compared to your Borla.

Thanks. Ive always heard a flowmaster muffler doesnt flow much better than a stock muffler. I figured the borla would have the advantage with no muffler on the right side.

Fred, you said

I have another Mufflex 4" system that has what I thought to be the SpinTech muffler. It is rectangular and stainless but has a 4" in AND a 4" out.

I've got pictures of the 3.5" Spintech that came with my Mufflex here:

They do sell the single outlet version with the Spintech as well (obviously that's what mine was).
