MSD Designs New Opti Distributor

Just got off the phone with a tech from MSD. 2 bits of good news....

1. MSD engineers have resolved issues with their cap & rotor kits and they are now available. Only probelm is that they are having problems with keeping up with back orders from all the major distributors.

2. MSD has designed and built a beefed up OPTI DISTRIBUTOR! It's made of aluminum, has adjustable timing advance, has the MSD cap & rotor, has the vent tubes, improved internal components, and will retail for around $500. It will be released in late Feb/early March.

Re: MSD Designs New Opti Distributor

Sometimes they want to gauge interest in a product before committing to all the tooling, materials, etc. or else you have the sales guys and project engineers promising something the engineering and production guys can't possibly deliver in time. Sometimes, it's done to get the announcement in before the competition can make their announcement, even if it's based on nothing going wrong at any point, ever, during the entire project. Or MSD got suppliers letting them down cause their salesmen lied to get the business or MSD bought from whomever was cheapest, and they didn't come through. Or the head engineer left the company or got sick or one of any possible reasons for it to be late. Isn't that simply SNAFU?

Mr Gasket announced a 12V vacuum pump which I was really interested in. I called them up to ask about it a few months after I saw the intro, and they said they were having trouble with it. I don't thing it ever got released, or ever will. It was in a magazine, though.
