Mr. Gasket Header gaskets...anyone use them?
Mr. Gasket Header gaskets...anyone use them?
and if so, can you remember what they looked like? The reason im asking is because I just installed one on the driver side header, and im thinking it might be the wrong gasket all together.
The shape of the port and the old gasket matched up perfectly...on the bottom it was flat, and the top was rounded.
Well the Mr. gasket one is a rectangle..the top if completely straight, and not rounded like the port. I noticed this, but still continued with it, thinking it wouldnt matter.
My car is still running like crap. Upon startup, the car backfired, and was still running really rough. I only ran it for like 20 seconds before i turned it off, and havent restarted it since. Is this normal(like does the gasket have to settle in or something?) Or does it sound like I have the wrong gasket?
Thanks for any help guys...

Re: Mr. Gasket Header gaskets...anyone use them?
The LT1s use a d-port gasket just like your old one so you should make sure that is what you reuse, otherwise, you are going to run into problems as you are right now.

What's the part number on your gaskets? I used Mr Gasket part number 5965. Here's a picture of it from the summit site MRG-5965
Sounds like you got the regular SBC header gaskets.
