is this motor worth it

I have a 93 camaro z28. The car has a 58mm holley avenger tb gasket matched intake. moroso cai bbk stainless headers full 3 in stainless exhaust all flowmaster. Msd distributor streetfire coil and msd 6al. Custom tune by alvin with smog pump air and ac delete it has 4.10 richmond gears and a 4l60 transmission. I found a motor out of a 92 vette that has 65k on it all stock. My motor has 145k leaks. Oil. Lobes are worn off the cam and has a nasty tick. Anyways the guy wants 1500 for the motor and it runs excellent. I plan on building a motor this winter with the one I.currently have I was just wondering if this is a good deal. It doesn't come with alternator or power steering pump but does come with intake and stoclk tb and manifolds

Sounds more like around $800 worth to me ONLY IF YOU CAN HEAR IT RUN FIRST. If not, it's worth significantly less.

Vette motor is the same as an f-body motor other than 4-bolt mains but by the time 4-bolt mains are necessary you should be looking at aftermarket caps anyway so not real benefit.

I MIGHT go to $700 on that. $1500 would be about right if it came with a 6speed, wiring, all accessories for a retrofit into something else.

What is a good deal for one person might not be a good deal for another. If you know the person selling the motor and you can verify the miles that's a plus. If it is a compleat take out minus the alt. and power steering pump which you already have then no big deal. 65,000 on the motor is nothing for todays motors and should have lots of life in it still. And since you need it ASAP.

Especially for an LT1, that is just getting loosened up.

Have you tried car-part.com I have found a few local on there.

If you are willing to swap things like the intake and such you could get a b-body engine which are often decently cared for, plentiful and cheap.

It would let you swap to a factory vented opti if you so choose, though since the MSD adds a vent that is not a big deal, or you could put your timing cover on it.

As said by pizzi-man though depending what kind of hurry you are in and how well you know the person maybe a higher price is OK for you. We have all paid extra for something available right now.

I haven't checked their but I have checked this vette out. It got rear ended but starts right up with no valve train noise does not leak oil and the oil looks like honey. The
motor is spotless and it is only an hour away from me so I have no shipping charges. I didn't check the castings to make sure it was a matching motor but it doesn't look as though its ever been removed. Thanks for the help guys im gonna pay for it tomorrow and it should be ready for pickup by Wednesday. One other question can I remove my old motor with headers attached. And install them before dropping the new one in.
