Best plugs and wires to use.

That's basically it. 97 Z28 naturally aspirated. I'm just wondering which plugs and wires are supposedly the best.

You will be fine with a set of NGK TR55 Iridium plugs, and a set of MSD 8.5mm SuperConductors. The 8.5mm wires will be tight in the stock looms and under the power steering pump bracket, but they will fit with some effort.

I like plain jane copper autolite plugs and O-reily lifetime warranty wires. Wires are made in the USA, and you can do plugs and wires for less than $40. On my fast car I run MSD's, but anymore the price is hard to swallow for the gain...

i run taylor spiro pro's when i was looking back a while ago they had the least resistance per foot than any other wire but that may be differant now. and id run the NGK TR55... i run the NGK TR7IX iradiums in my boosted car. but for a mild bolt on car your fonna want to use the TR55.

I like any of the NGK plugs paired with Moroso "blue" wires. Used the Morosos three times now with good success plus easier to fit than the jumbo sized wires.

I would like to add for people on a budget, Jeggs 8.5 mm wires are great if your running longtubes. They have tons of extra length, infact I had to take a few inches off of a couple of them. I haven't tried any of the higher dollar brands on account of the #6 sparkplug location, I was constantly burning the ends off my wires, but a couple of 6$sleaves fixed that. Just throwing it out there.

Stock AC-Delco wires have worked fine for me and you know they will fit.

Re: Best plugs and wires to use.

Thumbs up on the AC Delcos here as well. Surely they still make the wires in the USA? Seems like the majority of AC stuff I've been buying (clutch slave and master cylinders, coolant temp level sensor, Optispark, etc.) has been made elsewhere - and that doesn't mean Western Europe either - but rather, low cost countries (China or Taiwan, Mexico).

Re: Best plugs and wires to use.

I'm running the NGK TR-55's and the Jeg's branded 8.0 mm wires on both my IROC and Z28. Never a problem with each. Of course I've only put 10 miles on my IROC since I installed them, but I've had the wires and plugs in the Z28 since '05, at least 40k, without a single issue. I just bought a new set of wires and plugs 2 weeks ago but haven't installed them yet since I have to put new exhaust manifold flange gaskets on and I want to do it all at once.

Re: Best plugs and wires to use.

i would get autolite ar472 spark plugs and msd super conductor wire. these combined WILL give a faster, stronger , just the best dang explosion in oyur combustion chamber. my friend uses this combo in his 94 camaro, slightly modded and had before and after dyno horse power, tq, and mpg....... 265rwhp/346rwtq mpg went from 18/25 to 22/(almost30). plugs are cheap, might have to order them from someone online or have napa order them for you or auto zone. wires are around 100dollars. this "kit" offer you low resistance! have a small 3 to 5 k ohm cap and rotor with this and you're set.(msd..?)

Moroso super 40s but u have too custom make them. We use them the pro stock cars and even when resting against a header for a half hour they will not melt but they will cost you close too 200 dollars and its a very tight fit
